30 by 40 ft. quartersawn oak barn. This beautiful barn is made of predominately quartersawn oak. The markings in the beams are outstanding and beautiful. It dates to the mid 1800’s and was the hay barn on the Foreman Farm in Montgomery County, Pa. It measures 55 by 30 ft OR 30 by 40 ft. The original barn is 30 ft. by 40 ft. and there was an extra bay added probably near the turn of the last century adding another 15 ft in length. The added bent was done tastefully and it could be rebuilt in its original or altered size. The original barn (30 by40 ft) has 4 bents and three bays. The bays measure 30 ft long by 15, 13, and 10 ft wide. There are beatiful ladders in two of the bents. The upright posts measure 5″ by 9″ to 10″ by 6″ and the crossties measure appx. 6 by 6″ throughout the barn. This barn would lend itself wonderfully to a home conversion and a loft could rest at a height of appx. 13 ft. with another 11 ft. to the peak.
